Why buy General Sign?
Quality.
1. Computer Aided Design:
Our ISA award-winning designers use CAD technology with digital
photography capabilities. Realistic images of proposed signs as they
would appear in both day and night views are created so you can approve
your new signage with confidence and enthusiasm. This assures the most
cost effective sign to convey your image.
2. Computer Aided Engineering and Estimating:
General's
Engineering VP has 50 years of sign experience. General value-engineers
to wind loads, zoning codes, BOCA, NECA & UL standards for maximum cost
effectiveness, without over building. General is certified to apply UL
stickers in-house to save time, instead of waiting for inspectors at the
job site.
3. CAD-CAM Manufacturing:
Many projects can be expedited by the CAD-CAM process, wherein the
computer transfers the design data directly to cutting and bending
machinery for its immediate manufacture.
4. Superior Durability:
Patented GX rustproof sign cabinets. Streamlined & strong GX welded
extruded aluminum cabinets assure lightweight, long-lasting performance
with built in electrical raceways for safe illumination.
• Exterior finish coating:
Most signs and letters are submerged in an acid dip for etching. They are
then
neutralized and cleansed in a water bath, primed with zinc chromate and top
coated with several coats of MAP acrylic polyurethane. Signs too large
to dip in the tank are thoroughly sanded before primed.
• Routed face assembly:
Plastic panels behind routed aluminum sign faces are secured tightly
with welded studs and nylon washers to allow for thermal
expansion/contraction. General doesn’t use adhesives since the
coefficients of expansions will pull apart metal-to-plastic interfaces. This
can’t happen to your General Sign.
• Higher neon standards:
General Sign Company is certified to use Eurocom electrodes and gases
for our neon tubing, giving our customers maximum cold weather
brightness and extended life, where ordinary brands dim.
• Circuitry:
Neon circuits are sized by metering for exact transformer requirement.
General Sign Company does NOT use higher voltage 15,000-volt transformers, as they can
lead to shorting problems. General also lab tests to assure “non-flickering” operation even down to
90-volts primary circuit (from the normal 120) for maximum real-life
performance that prevents costly service calls.
5. Installation:
Our sign craftsmen and installers are Union members; IBEW Local #1 and
Sign & Pictorial Workers #774. General’s field technicians enter
construction sites without triggering work stoppages.
6. Serviceability:
Our signs are service-friendly because of smartly located access panels
to all electrical components. Our large “walk-in” signs are interior
equipped with treated lumber walkways. This keeps your technicians safe
while protecting your visible sign surfaces from strain, denting or
paint pop-off.
These enhanced quality features are why your General Sign products
return higher ROI, longer life & safe operation.
